Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy

I use Internal Family Systems as a core framework in my work with adults who feel pulled in many directions internally. You might notice thoughts like, "Part of me wants to rest, and part of me will not let me stop," or, "I know this relationship is not good for me, but I cannot bring myself to leave." IFS offers a clear, gentle way to understand these inner tensions without judgment.
As a Level 1 trained IFS therapist, I guide you in getting to know your "parts" the way you might get to know members of an inner family. Some parts may be critical and demanding, others anxious or exhausted, and others very young and hurt. Instead of trying to silence or overpower them, we become curious about how they are trying to protect you and what they have lived through. Over time, you begin to access what IFS calls Self: a grounded, compassionate, steady presence within you that can relate to your parts rather than being blended with them. From that place, you can negotiate with overworking parts, soothe terrified parts, and begin to heal the wounded places that drive so many of your reactions.
IFS can be especially powerful if you have a trauma history, complex grief, or experiences of narcissistic abuse, and you are tired of feeling like you are at war with yourself. Sessions are 60 minutes, offered virtually across Arizona and Washington State, with in-person options near Scottsdale.
If parts work is new to you, I will move slowly, explain the process in accessible language, and never force you deeper than you wish to go. I offer a free consultation where you can ask questions about IFS, share what you are struggling with, and get a sense of how this approach might support the changes you are hoping for.
